IKEA has released a statement over the viral video of a woman masturbating at one of their Chinese outlets.

Although it didn’t confirm exactly which of its outlets the video was shot in, the Swedish giant issued a statement saying it was “taking the matter very seriously.”

“We oppose and condemn these actions and have reported the incident to the police,” it said. “IKEA is committed to providing home inspiration for the public.”

Chinese government mouthpiece Global Times has also condemned the release of what it called “pornography”, which briefly made the rounds on social media before being censored.

Citing a Chinese online information regulation, it suggested both the woman and the cameraman could face criminal charge including a prison term of up to three years for the offence of “spreading obscene material”.
