Singer David Adeleke more popularly known as Davido is risking a jail term.
And it may be on two fronts.
He risks one on a possible culpability charge.
And another in case that directly affects his person and career.
The Lagos state government has dragged him to court for tax evasion.
The singer publicly who declared a 500million earning from his December 2017 Lagos show is accused of dodging tax responsibilities.
He claimed he remits his tax to his state of origin, Osun while Lagos is insisting the rule states remittance to the state of residence.
Interestingly the court case had been on before the December concert in which Davido declared an N500m earning and allegedly went on a spending spree of a new car and lavish gifts for his crew.
On another front, he risks jail term on culpability charge should investigators establish a direct link between the singer and his crew member who assaulted airport authorities and was clamped into detention.
The crew member assaulted airport officials at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos on the singer’s return from a vocation in Dubai last week.
The assault came to be over the refusal by the aide to allow operatives to check Davido’s luggage tags.
The verbal exchange that resulted in the refusal resulted in the singer’s crew member assaulting security operatives.
‘’He punched on in the face and took on two others who waded in before he was overpowered and thrown into detention’’ societynow learned.
The singer was said to be at the scene but his attempt to get the incident swept under the carpet was rebuffed and the aide transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for full investigation while the luggage – all 17 of them – where seized.
Incidentally, David some months back accused airport officials of always demanding a bribe from him anytime he travels.
‘’this is payback time for the embarrassment his statement which went viral and forced official reaction caused security agencies at the airport’’ a source stated and added ‘’they want to do their job properly and make an example of him to other celebrities of his ilk’’
